 Buyer’s Guide

Congratulations! You just bought a Jeep®  and now you want to equip it for your favorite off-road adventure. How do you go about choosing the equipment and accessories that will help without draining the bank account? Many people build up their vehicle in stages as their skills improve over time. Others have owned many off-road equipped vehicles and know exactly how they want this one to perform and handle both on and off the highway.

Follow along as we help you decide which TeraFlex products will give you the TeraFlex Advantage. Our primary focus at TeraFlex is the Jeep Wrangler although we do offer products for other models as well. Many of us depend on our Jeeps for daily transportation so they have to remain streetable as we go through the modifications to allow off road performance. We’ll start with the newest model and work our way back.

2007 to current JK Wrangler

If you want to add a little personality to your new JK and run up to a 33 inch tire, the Budget Boost is a great way to go. Some folks call it the spacer lift, because the polyurethane spacers fit between the top of the spring and the upper spring seat on the vehicle frame. The spacers measure 2.5 inches, so when installed, your vehicle sits 2.5 inches over the stock height. The factory springs are retained along with all the control arms and track bars etc so the ride is changed very little from the factory showroom condition. We do include a rear trackbar drop bracket for the frame side to center the rear axle after installing the spacers.

There are three flavors of the JK Budget Boost. They all work the same on both the 2 door and the 4 door model JK Wrangler.

1355200 is the most basic kit. It does not include shocks. If all you want to accomplish is a taller stance with slightly larger tires you can choose this option. The limitation will be in down travel or articulation with the factory shock being the limit to downward axle movement. This kit also should be your choice if you have a favorite brand of shock that you plan to use on your JK Wrangler.

1355210 includes all the components of the first kit but adds in a set of shock extensions or shock adapters that move the mounting point of the factory shock down by 2.5 inches to correspond with the spacers on the coil springs. This version allows maximum downward movement of the axle which translates into more articulation or wheel movement up and down when you are driving across uneven terrain.

1255200 is the most complete Budget Boost. It includes our vehicle specific, tuned TeraFlex shocks, specifically engineered for the JK Wrangler. This kit gives the same 2.5 inches of lift.

One of the first things you will notice with any of the TeraFlex Budget Boost kits is our exclusive design on the rear coil spring spacer. The TeraFlex spacer is more than just a “donut” of polyurethane. It includes an industry first center tower that serves to center the coil spring during a wide range of motion. In some circumstances the JK rear coil spring will drop away from the upper spring seat during off road driving. The TeraFlex spacer has the center tower that guides the spring right back into the center of the spring seat as the axle moves up and down.

The JK Wrangler is designed from the factory with a front rake. In other words the vehicle slopes down in the front, for aerodynamics. When adding accessories this slope can become exaggerated; again TeraFlex has the solution. We have a variety of spacers that can be added to the front spring to level or correct ride height after you add your favorite bumpers, racks and winch. 1953100 is a ½ inch spacer and 1953075 is a 1 inch thick front coil spacer.
