In 1948 after the production of over 360,000 military jeeps during WWII, Willys-Overland was eager to begin production in the civilian market and in July of 1948 Willys-Overland introduced the Willys Jeepster VJ-2. With only 10,326 jeepsters produced and in production for only 3 years, it has become extremely rare and difficult to find one of these models.
As the owner of Teraflex, Mark has always had an interest in anything Jeep. He had always wanted a Jeepster, but struggled to find one, or at least find one that was in well enough condition that it could be restored. Marks first intention was to build a “Hot Rod” if he could ever find one, but when he finally came across one in Arizona, he decided he couldn’t bring himself to cut into the original look and took it home where the restoration began. After a few years and still unfinished Mark decided to contact Jim Santos of jeepsterjim.com who specializes solely in jeepster restoration. After talking to Jim, off to Florida it went. A few months later the Jeepster was back and once again in its original, pristine condition.
